I was 6 years old, the first time my father came and grabbed in his arms and started dancing tango with me. It was lovely; the connection that I felt that night with my father is something that up today I cannot forget. Of course there were many other times but the first one is the one that made a huge impact.

As Uruguayans, Tango was a music that was normal to heard at home, it is a music that establishes a connection with each person present at the moment that it is play.

To watch a couple or more than one, to dance Tango is something special because there is no longer two persons dancing, they became one.

Professional Tango is splendid, I cannot denied it and Esquina Carlos Gardel’s company are, If it is not the best, one of the best. Each member of this company not only understands the meaning of Tango but also feel it as it should be. However, the real Tango, the real emotion, is the one that is dancing at home, at family or friends party, I don’t know how to explain it with words but the closest words that I could use is: “the atmosphere create by the people whom are dancing is pure, it is magic, it drive the watcher to the sky”

May be you heard something about “Tango is Argentine” or “Tango is Uruguayan” … I laugh just to think about it and more by writing it. As Uruguayan I say “Tango is Uruguayan” but you know something, afterwards, Tango belong to everyone around the globe and it is there to be share without any boundaries.

I want to take a risk and say that you do know Tango and I am sure that it is one of many styles of dancing that you like to either see or dance… Am I wrong?

So, if one day you have the opportunity to go to Argentina, go at your hotel about Esquina Carlos Gardel and go there to enjoy the show and good meal.

He still and will always be the one that touches each heart of those that listen his music, the romantics and sensitive one that still around among all of us.

I grew up listening to his music; I dream with his music, I dream with my charm prince… those days… Uff! How many memories exploded in my mind that night, how many tears of emotion follow throughout my face? … A lot of them!

It is not just the lyrics, it is also the melody on his music, the tone of his voice, it is what he transmit, he do sing from his heart and every single soul can feel and live it.

Each sit was occupied that night, there was no empty chair and every one enjoyed completely his performance, there was no regret at all and most of all, no one complain about the cold night because in that moment there was none that could complain, not even a bit.

Jose Luis Perales, a master, years has pass and his sound, his voice… has no change at all, on the contrary it got better, much better.

As I have said in another occasion, if you don’t speak/understand Spanish, translate one of his songs and enjoy the message which is deep, enjoy the melody of his voice, of his music, you will then understand me no matter how old you are.

Hundreds of hundreds of Peruvians guys wait for them for many years, most of them just dreamed about having them in Peru so there were a lot of people that were excited to the extreme about it. They could not believe when the news came out few months ago, many were marking their calendar as those that are in jail … lol …

Was any of the fans regret? … Not at all! … The concert was an ecstasy for each of them, it was a magic night for them and if they could, that night will still on and continue for many more days.

I am guessing that each of them have place the entrance ticket in a frame and I am not over reacting, none of them, until few months ago, were able to see that the dream of having Faith No More in Peru could became a reality.

So, the night was magnificence, everyone was happy, more than 80% knew exactly the lyrics, the other 20% just make up new English words as they go but in general, the artist were more than surprise how much their fans love them so there is no doubt regarding the good memory of Peru that the group took home with them.

He is crazy! … in a good way. His way at the stage is something unique to the point that up to today I cannot define who he is.

Energy a lot his music has, it is something that I cannot denied. It was the first time that I listen his music and to be honest, even when I am not fan of that genre, I like it for that night … lol … yeah, I will not listen him again but if he come back I will go to see him.

His way to sing, to dance, his face expressions… he has something that capture the attention and get the person to love the moment. Enigmatic may be; great singer, perhaps; excellent concert, for sure it was.

There was not a single soul that did not follow him in each song, there was not a single person that did not vibe with his music, it was a energetic night that many will remember for many years to come and I included myself in that group.

I just wish to know him as a person, to be able to find out Enrique as Enrique and not as a singer, he has capture all my curiosity, for me he is an enigma =]

Chick, elegant, harmony… the best show so far I have seen so far. It was not just a concert, a show; it went ahead of any other show that you have seen.

The performance of the dancers, the music and song of the 2 artist was interlace with each other in such way that it went down to the theater arena … it is hard to describe; you have to be there to understand it.

Of course it was a full house and those that did not went, regret it big time. To pay for the ticket, which was not cheap at all, was something that at the end you can say that you pay much less for such amazing night, every penny invested in the ticket was worthy.

The crow enjoy each second, jumping, signing (well, many though that they were follow the lyrics but actually they made their own words lol), living the moment like if it were the last night in their live.

If Pet Shop Boys return tomorrow with the same show, believe me if I say that everyone will go once again and this time, they will need a bigger place to perform their show.

Pandemonium Tour 2009, if it is going to be near you … go at once, even if you have to drive several hours, it is something that you will keep alive in your memory so long you live.

Lolita… pretty name that each time I have heard it, a silhouette or image of a child-woman pop up in my mind. Yeah! A name that, for me, combine innocence and mischief, a name that draw a smile in my face, implant curiosity within myself and just fill me up with peace. Crazy ah? … Yes, I have to admit it but it does not means that I have to be admitted to a mental hospital … lol

The painter has, in fact, captured all the emotions that I have when I pronounce the name “Lolita”, so some else than me share my craziness. His work Is so expressive, “Lolita” seems to be actually in the room watching us instead of being us whom watching her.

I love this exposition to be honest, actually, I must say that among all the others, this is the first one and may be the only one that capture all myself at once and still till now, when I see the photos, I got bewitched by them

So, it does not matter where you are right now, if you like any of this photos, just do your best to get in touch with the artist or may be… you can plan a vacation over here, an “art explorer vacation” … lol… it is not a bad idea, here is a lot to see beside the traditional reasons to come such as Machupichu, etc.

The reaction generated by these engravings responds to the figure of Goya as a chronicler of a harsh reality. Its gross view of power and violence, from a dream, moving to the artist by his fascination for the fatal, so brutal, so dehumanized …

From his abstract figurative chromatic strokes are reflected in the essence of the work, as well as Robinsons is present in Goya’s work.

In this exhibition, his first solo exhibition in Peru, Goldstein presents a personal vision of his art. An almost extinct art, that which springs from the heart, one who is influenced by conceptual metaphysical theories so fashionable in the art world today. The artist: the eternal teenager claims her freedom above all.

Along with this series of paintings, presents a performance, where each frame is displayed as a piece beheaded: blood, guts, and men dressed in butchers are the hosts of the event.

Joaquin Goldstein, is a young Peruvian artist whom born in Argentina. His childhood and adolescence pass between Argentina and Peru.

In the city of Buenos Aires is studying art at the studio of Juan Astica. He decides to travel to Europe, specifically Spain, where he works in the shop Albarran: Barcelona. He is a member of the Cultural Association Caminal and Cultural Association Mina. Today as part of their experimentation and reunion with their roots has decided to spend some time in Peru so that these days we can find every afternoon in his studio in Barranco.

Joaquin is an artist in constant search, inclined to abstract expressions. However, at this late stage, Goldstein, a great admirer of Francisco Goya, makes sense in his works representative silhouettes that recall “Disasters of War”. The artist introduces these silhouettes barely visible, but recognizable fusing them with an abstract style inspired by the splashing of Jackson Pollock (action painting), dominant style in it. He uses his whole body, totally removed from the easel, standing or perched on a ladder.

As a support used preferably large-format canvases, sometimes wood, this supports either the floor or wall using a minimum of traditional instruments. Throw the paint, using acrylic and latex materials; cast them, letting them flow like a river. Hitting from the top on the canvas, in others such as spinning around in a dance, to then open oceans each artist involved mixing both with a brush or a brush, or rocking the canvas with his hands.

We can also observe in the work of Goldstein that anything can be inspiring to share in creating. Intertwined between the paint and fabric in some of his pieces you can see bits of glass or plastic or any recycling element that provides texture and color which resulted in intense colors of blue, red lipstick, ocher, green, black and white flashing, resulting in interesting glazes. This rebel artist puts in this way, his temperament, his love of freedom, random and the deconstruction of the image.

Between music and the shouts of the crowd… I need to go to the doctor as soon as possible! … My poor’s little ears are not doing so well after that concert.

It was the first time that I learn about Pxndx, a Mexican group which has a lot of followers. Type of music… I have no idea, as I have said in one of my others writings, about music I just know how to feel the music and dance, and that’s it! … lol … however, it seems to be rock with the pardon of those who actually knows.

It was a quite interested night, people were crazy and of course they were their fan and consequently they love Pxndx music. Personal, I don´t, I really did not like it at all. I could not feel music at all, for me it was just noise, but hey! There is music for everyone, right? Tons of it thanks to God

Anyhow it was nice to see so many people so happy, more when after two cancelations their idols finally arrive to Peru and perform the show. Yes, twice in this year their fans waited for them but they did not come, so now, the third … how it goes? … The third is the one? … lol … I have no idea how it is in English but in Spanish it is “la tercera es la vencida” … yes, at least they came and make a hundreds of people very happy with it.

Ruben Blades and the word “Salsa” … can I say that these two words are synonymous? … Well, more than one will say to me “NO WAY!” but … it is!!! … lol…

Let me see, who recognize the word “salsa” as music and not as a Mexican sauce, will understand my point of view. Ruben Blades is one of the masters when it came to salsa as genre musical. He is one of the top (the first, for me will be Hector Lavoe).

It was years and years of absence from the stage, from the musical world, but you know something… it was worthy to wait for his return. October 10 is a day that I will never forget, his concert, his return, was over the top, it was great, it was a fully triumph!

In spite of years away from his fans, as a musician, the show that he gave to everyone was spectacularly full of energy, full of talent- There was not even one person that regret to be that night singing as crazy, remembering more than one good night in their youth when Ruben sign everywhere and when we just following in love may be for the first time.

The producer of the show in Peru was great too; the sound, lights and videos could not be more synchronize than they were. The combination of a great singer, a great band and a great producer give to all us the best show that we had so far when it comes to salsa music.

Do we hope he come again? … of course we do, are you kidding me, if he decided to be here once a month for the next year… it will be full house each time, no doubt about it.

I am guessing that he was a good ministry in his country, Panama, but I have no doubt that his essence is to be a singer, his mission is to transmit all his thoughts and feelings through the music to everyone around the world. Yes, I know, the lyrics are in Spanish, but I am sure that if you listen him, your blood will start to boil leaving you to feel that music and with no chance than to dance. Get a translator to find out what he says on his lyrics.

Although Peru is a market with a colorful palette of options to offer to all its visitants, the government has forget for many years what does sport mean and the kids, youth and grow up that practice any of them do not received help, even when they have bring us a medal o trophy, and investing in sports will also bring an option for people to come to the country.

Fortunately, we do have people like Peter Henningsen that due his passion for extreme sports such as BMX, Skateboard, etc. decided 7 years ago do something about it by presenting projects to different counties to see if they can get them to build, for instance, a SkatePark in their community.

Thanks to his initiative, along this years, Peru has over 10 Parks for extreme sports where the youth can go for free instead of been at the street drinking, getting high or worst, became a member of a street gang.

Last august 29th, was a championship for 3 categories: Skateboard, BMX and Inline Skates. It was rewarding to see so many youth belongs to the working class with such talent and skill on those sports. It was, honestly, something that could touch the heart.

Things could be so different if the government open its eyes and see how much good it will do if they start investing in sports. However, anyone is welcome to contribute in any way they can, not necessarily it has to be with money.
